Photo Diary: Tropical North Queensland
Say hello to PARADISE!
Tropical North Queensland is, quite simply, one of the most beautiful parts of World...and I've visited a LAAAT of places. It has a little something for everyone... a mix of adventure, tropical culture and beachside indulgence.
The coastline boasts some of the most stunning beaches I’ve ever seen, some completely secluded with the whitest of sand. If you go inland slightly you’ll find an incredible array of tropical wildlife (including giant crocodiles on the beach!), enchanting rainforests, huge waterfalls, and pioneering Aboriginal culture. And if that hasn’t sold it, it’s also the only place in the World where two World Heritage Sites meet - The Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics rainforest. MIND. COMPLETELY. BLOWN.
If you're interested in visiting, here's a few tips from my recent trip:
How to get there: If you’re visiting from Sydney, I would recommend flying into Cairns airport, hire a car and gradually make your way north up to Cape Tribulation (or further if you have time).
Recommended route: Cairns - Fitzroy Island or Green Island - Palm Cove - Port Douglas - Mossman Gorge - Cape Tribulation - Cape York
Favourite activities: Snorkelling with sea turtles, touring the rainforest with Indigenous guides, kayaking along Cape Tribulation beach, and zip lining through the Daintree Rainforest.
Stay: My favourite accommodation along the route includes:
- Port Douglas: Thala Beach Nature Reserve
- Cape Tribulation: Cape Trib Beach House Resort (super cheap cabins and comes with your very own private beach!)
- Green Island: Green Island Resort
I have shared a collection of my photos below and an incredible video from Queensland.com showcasing Tropical North Queensland in all its glory! If you have any questions about the area, leave a comment below or get in touch via any one of our channels and I'd be very happy to help :)
